The "What a coincidence!" thing

Didn't you recently felt that there are some things around us that are quite the same or at least very similar? Well, since year started I found a lot of coincidences among to what I see. To figure it out I would like to show you some similarities that I found interesting

Film industry

It's all about second turn: Natalie Portman plays second lover/wife in "The Other Boleyn Girl" (2008) and "The Other woman" (2009).

It's all about a couple: Hilary Swank and Jeffrey Dean Morgan share screen in films "P.S. I love you" (2007) and "The Resident" (2011)

Earn, spend; earned, spent

Image: composition made with parts from psdgraphics.

When we are kids, we grow up, at least me, by the “a penny saved, a penny earned”. Our parents taught us to be aware about what we do with our money, although not having many pennies earned. All the “big” amount of money we had was from our grands and family give-aways. Christmas, birthdays and a few other occasions made our pocket-account a bit more adult. Children are easy to surprise and the few pennies you give them is such a great treasure. Buying the first gum or the first lolly is that exciting as feeling the adult world.

When we looking forward to turn adulthood world, and by that I mean earn real-job worth money, we get mad. We compare the first “big amount” we had when we were a child and the new one, we just blow up. Our likes changes in time and it does also the cost of the items we buy.

We earn money, we spend money, then we earn more money and of course we spend it, and it spins all over again until the circle stops in earnings. When there is no more incomes, what we should do? Dad and Mum taught us how to save our “earned” money, but not what happens after having a zero o red numbers bank-account when all the money earned is spent and no job on the way. Of course they told us: “When there is no money left, there is no more money left”. Thank you, that helped when the money was just for buying some candies, but not when we have to pay the everyday food and there is no more incomes.

And there comes when we struggle and try plans to recover what we had, bank credits, mortgage... Therefore, we actually realise what it costs the independent adulthood life.

Still in the World I can't get away from, fortunately

Since I started holidays there was something missing in my life, my Blog.

It has been a long time ago I decided not to carry on with this project. About a year ago something happened in my life and I did not feel capable to go on with it.

However, when all calmed down I tried to put my life in way it was, or at least put some order. While my priorities were held up, it became the turn of the “others”. Today, after Summer holidays, I started to read a few recent posts from the Blog, whom at the first time was a very interesting and new project. Maybe it was not as famous as any other blog, but it really meant a lot for me. It was initially a try-out of a new internet tool communication for me. And then it had turned out to be a release of my mind within thoughts and ideas, and all my feelings throughout words and sometimes images allocated with.

Now, I would try to carry on with that project.

I know I am not the best writer of all times, I know, but I don't expect to be, and neither you have to expect the finest literature in it. This Blog is some sort of a diary. When something comes to my mind, I write it down, just like that. Just “sharing thoughts with you”.

Yellow Press for Dummies (Chapter no. 1)

Chapter no. 1: How to distinguish a rich and a celebrity
First, you have to know that in the world there are several statues or social grades. They are as follows, from the less to the best known people.

Concepts:
1. Everybody
2. Fan people
3. Little celebrities
4. Rich people
5. Celebrities

Definitions:
1. Everybody: Every person living in the world who is not a fan person, little celebrity, rich person or/and celebrity.
2. Fan people: Every person who is fan of a celebrity or little celebrity.
3. Little celebrities: Every person who wants to be famous and does silly things to be a celebrity or does something unwanted to be a celebrity, and is well know by fan people, which one day was.
4. (Posh) Rich people: Every person who has a lot of money and lives in the upper class world.
5. Celebrities: Every person who has a lot of money and is well known by everybody.

But celebrities are rich, how do I know who is rich and who is famous?
When you see someone leaving a shiny big brand new car with all grungy hair and no so great look wearing (most of the times sort of unusual shape) sun glasses (most of the times also when there's no sun or at night) and looking at you don't know where, sure it'll be a glitzy famous.
However, when you see someone dressed like a smart-minded frog, grease in their hair, shaved beard getting out of a shiny brand new car whit its eyes looking everywhere, get in you mind it's a freaking poshy rich.

Note: Neither the book nor chapter exists. This is just for entertaining purposes.

Mystery Tweets. Cap.2: "Cuba entertain me, please"

By the time you reading this post (if you are reading it on Monday 28th of February 2011), I'll be crossing the Atlantic Ocean direction to Cuba.
Do you know when you don't plan a holiday and it just happen? Then, this it is for Charles and I.
A few months ago we went out with some friends. Some of them recently visited Mexico, others Panama and some others Dominican Republic. They told us it was a very pretty place to walk around and experience new feelings that here, in the UK, could ever sense even in a Latin Club, where in that moment we were having a drink. All nigh long, conversations flew in that direction. Mexico is “spicingly” attractive, Panama is “unlockedly” open and Dominican Republic as the great devotes of the everyday “Saint Sunday”. Charles and I really were green of envy. We also wanted to let ours hair down too!
Then, when we got home, we didn't wait a second. It was the fastest move I ever seen in my whole life. The MacBook Pro went as fast as we barely picked it at the flight. Luckily the sofa was next to the “flying Mac”. I also picked our beloved terrestrial globe and spun it until Latin America appeared on top.
– Why not Cuba? None of them have visited yet!
– You said it. Why not Cuba!
– Then Cuba it is!
And that is how our planning to Cuba started.

And now, for those who have read one of my tweets I wrote a few days ago... You know why this post is quite a lot to do with the new Apple event planned for this Wednesday.
Since the first day iPad appeared I just put more and more attention to this attractive new wave gadget, and since I am a second though technology woman (meaning I wait for second generation to come to buy it), you'll know why I'll be so desperate on Wednesday. We will be in Cuba until Saturday! This week is supposed to be a technology relax. However, how I could be relaxed when the gadget I have been waiting for more than a half a year is being released in that precisely week!?
Yes, indeed. I'll try not to think about it and enjoy my stay there. Wish me luck!!

THE BEAUTY AND/or THE human BEASTly action

Image credits: Thanks to Geoff Teehan for the iPhone 4 tools, Fabien Egot for the photo from Monaco. Background from the Euston Flyer Pub in London.

Saturday. I went out with my friends and it was one of the days that the conversation went too far that we couldn't know how to end it.

This time we went to have dinner in a vegetarian restaurant together and then we went to a pub or somewhere we can listen to good music and talk. This time was talking the preference.

At one point of the night I took off my iPhone from my purse and John, my biologist friend (against anything related to the non-degradable materials) asked me what was from the picture I had for wallpaper in the iPhone. I told him that it was from Monaco. Anne, John's girlfriend and Juridical Assessor of Ambient Law (or something like that) immediately told us that Monaco was one of the enemies of nature and coast legal procedures (or something like that). I wanted to show her the photo but she refused because he knew what kind of photo was. For her the most ugly, insensitive, and outrageous photo that a photographer could take. As you can see, she is really into nature stuff protection. She likes photography and she takes (amateur) nature sceneries and human actions protests. (Now you know why John and Anne meet).

I didn't know what to do or say. For me it was a beautiful photo. Great exposure. Great lights. Perfect moment. Perfectly framed.

Then, Anne tried to explain why this sort of photos are not as beautiful as we thing they are. She said that nature needs more space than the humanity does. So, when a human tries to enlarge their proprieties and goods means that other human has to reduce their space of living. However, this is not happening, nature has limits. What it happens is the more one person wants the more another want until reaches some point that the ones who have more take advantage from others taking their goods, so the ones who do not have much, they have less. And in that way there's a huge difference between rich and poor people. For her, capitalism is the reason.

At that point, when Anne mentioned capitalism, Paul, the economist of the group, could not remain silent any more. He quickly said that in so many ways capitalism has become one of the most productive solutions for the Twentieth century. Capitalism has been the engine of exporting and importing different goods to one country to another. And he made us reflect about the dinner we had eaten. He said that we couldn't had the chance to eat in that vegetarian restaurant if were not capitalism. Globalization made capitalism just grow. And to sum up, he continued, capitalism had always existed, in one way or another.

Conversation continued flying at the same way all time referring to that topic and other related to. It was actually really interesting see what were the opinions of my friends and how they were convincing the others to support their theories. Quite entertaining for Henry, the sociologist of the group.
I think this night we all went home thinking about things that world does not take much attention but actually rather important. What do you think about it?

Quite unexpected night, mainly because all started with a photo of Monaco from my iPhone.

Secretos Confesables. Cap.2: Mi primera hada verde

Me paré. No quise dar un paso más.
¿Chicos?

Me acerqué.

¿Qué has visto? – Y respondí lo que había visto.
¡Fenomenal!

I DO like Mondays

People ask me a question: Why I post on Mondays?
And I tell 'em: Because I like Mondays.

Actually, I don't like Mondays as much as Fridays or Saturdays do, but I have to deal with them, so I like them. Mondays, as it is wrongly known, are not the worst day of the week. It's true that it's the first day of the week of working and we have to leave all weekend's fun behind. However, we have to be more positive and give a chance to that day to be wonderful as any other can be and carry on with smile on the face! If you don't, sure you'll miss a lot of good things that could eventually happen in a everyday life time. Because, when you think all can't go on right, then you have to say: Ok, I'm here, I have to deal with today, why not deal it with the very best smile?
Be yourself happy and you'll make the other to be happy too.

Do you need inspiration?
- Take your friends close to you and make your everyday life time to be like a whole new and challenging day. Life is more exciting in that mood!
- Don't like your job or work space? Put in mind anything of your job which makes you happy, or at least, make you less bored or unhappy (it does not matter how insignificant it is). Then, connect it to the next thing that makes you happy too (or less unhappy) and related to other things that could be similar, and so on. It's a chain of the not-so-interesting-things to be the-things-that-make-your-day-easier. I'm sure that now there's just a few things that you don't like about your job.

- If you are in Twitter... an inspiration is @FGrau. Francesc is one of the most positive people I've meet in this social network. So, when he starts a new week he just say: Empezando una nueva semana con fuerza e ilusión, which in English could be like 'Starting a new week with strength and hope'. That's the point, that's the attitude!

*Note: Photo taken by John at Yukon (Alaska).

I can't conclude this post without mentioning that yesterday was the 32nd anniversary of the disastrous murdering of Brenda Ann Spencer. He killed ten people for 'fun', because he 'wanted to be on the TV', and, well, 'she didn't like Mondays'. (More info)

In any case...
 Happy Monday to everyone!

"Life is short. Have an affair"

Shocked is a word that can describe my face when I saw this ad on the web.
I could not believe it. Quite unexpected and blurred way of promoting this kind of activities. However, more impressed is what I finally felt when I gave my boyfriend the chance to watch it.
Non sense for me, all the sense of the world for him. And after all, that had pretty good sense in a way.

******************

- That is non sense! - I said looking at the computer while we were sitting around the living room table.
- What do you say, Darling? - He asked me still working with his computer.
- Did you saw that? That's non sense! - I repeated while I was pointing my finger to the screen.
- What is it? - Now he stopped what he was doing and did focused at my computer.

He read what I was pointing at. A few seconds later.

- But of course! There are a lot of men who are not happy with the couple they've married. And, well, they look for somebody else to fulfil their sexual life! - He looked at me and expected that I understood his opinion. However, my face were not into that. So he carried on with much more care when pronouncing his words - Well, you know, some men wants more... - My face were still - Different things... And, and.. humm... it's a way of challenging their life... new boundaries!.

He turned back to his work. I wasn't. I looked at him wanting to say something but I remained silent thinking about what he just said. Then:

- So, what you mean is that you'll be looking for a new "company" if we were married and I wouldn't fulfil YOUR sexual life... is that it? -
- Sweetie! - He stopped watching his screen and faced me - You fulfil my sexual life! - He smiled me trying to hug me which finally does.
- And the rest? - I was still. We remained hugged but then he went 3 inches away from me still looking at me.
- You fulfil my whole life! - He paused because I was not reaching the understanding of his words - Look, I love you. I love you since the first day we met. - He paused to think - Well, not quite the first day, because you were ill and you looked rather awful...
- Charles! - I hit him tenderly -
- Ok, ok! My point is that we are good together now. If there are couples that can't live together is their problem, and if society do made up to something to make their life easier, then they'll know what they want to do with their life. But, that is nothing to do with us.

Pause.

I understood it.

He continued - Darling, I love you. That is what's the only thing that matters now and the only thing that I care between us.

I saw he meant those words.

I must admit it, women take things too far.

Last Year Stats Summary (2010 stats)

2010 has been actually a very good year for my blog. It had received more than 3000 visitants, which means that it is quite a success comparing to the first month of the year.

These are some quite notable/funny facts:
- OS: although being myself a very Apple fan, the blog received much more Window users than Macintosh users.

- devices/browsers: iPad? MacBook? - That's cool! // Blackberry? iPod? iPhone? - That's great! // Nintendo? PlayStation? Wii? Fantastic!

- countries: America: Mexico, US, Argentina, Chile, Colombia... Europe: Spain, UK...

Thank all of you! You really keep me carrying on with the idea of this blog. So, please, if you have anything to say, any idea, any something, speak it out loud... "write" it out loud! Comment! I would really appreciate it. Now, I know you are interested in the content in my blog, but if you comment I would know how do you feel, what do you expect, what really keeps you to follow my blog. In most of the times support is what makes easy the way we do things!

Again, thank you.
